Why You Need To Use Toner

Why You Need To Use Toner
Toners... we've all heard it before from the beauty experts, been intrigued... yet here we are still not using it or perhaps using it but thinking... why? I'll admit researching for this blog post, I found out things I didn't even know a toner was useful for, des pite always using it!

So why do you need to use a toner?

A toner completes the cleansing process, it is used after we wash our face to remove any of the excess impurities and to rebalance the skins pH. So many factors in our environment and internally (stress, etc) cause our skin to turn oily, therefore acidic and an acidic skin environment is prone to breakouts. But here's where things get complicated, cleansing our face (although essential) makes our skin alkaline, therefore dry and sensitive. So toning is essential to ensure you have that perfect balance of acidic and alkaline at a pH of 5.5, this is where your skin is at it's healthiest and glowing.

What to look for in a toner?

Steer clear of any chemically laden toners with alcohol! These will just deplete and aggravate the skin. A toner should be soothing, hydrating and completely natural.
Our Mint + White Willow Bark Toner contains the natural astringent Witch Hazel, Orange Blossom Water to soothe and reduce redness, White Willow Bark cleans pores whilst stimulating the formation of new skin cells and finally, peppermint oil is highly antiseptic and antimicrobial.
Our Rose Water works wonders in the toner department- rids the skin of toxins, is anti-inflammatory, reduces skin irritation and redness, whilst maintaining the skins pH. Read more about Rose Water on our blog post here.
